Rewardful vs Tapfiliate

Rewardful vs Tapfiliate: one banded by revenue, one metered by clicks, and who holds the payout on each

By Jimi Barkway · Published 7 September 2026 · Part of the comparison pages

In brief

Rewardful is $49 to $7,500 a month of affiliate revenue, then $99, then Enterprise from $149. Tapfiliate is $89 for 5,000 clicks and 500 conversions a month, then $179 for 100,000 and 10,000, with overage above each cap. A metered plan charges by usage with an overage above a cap, so a click-heavy program pays more on Tapfiliate and a high-revenue one pays more on Rewardful. Rewardful pays affiliates for a flat 3% on Managed Payouts. Tapfiliate takes no cut and sends settled balances to your own Trolley account on its $179 plan. Rewardful reads Stripe and Paddle Classic; Tapfiliate reads Stripe and lists thirty-plus integrations, including Shopify and WooCommerce.

Rewardful or Tapfiliate: what is the short answer?

In shortRewardful is built for SaaS on Stripe or Paddle. It starts at $49 and prices by how much your affiliates bring in. Tapfiliate is built for ecommerce, SaaS and every partner type in between. It starts at $89 and prices by clicks and conversions. Rewardful can pay your affiliates for a flat 3%. Tapfiliate takes no cut. It hands the payout to your own Trolley account on its $179 plan.

The research method was simple. I read both pricing pages, both feature pages and both help centres on 6 and 7 September 2026. I put the same questions to each. Price and what moves it. Who pays the affiliates and what it costs. Which billing systems it reads. How tracking works. The API. The links are in the sources. AffiliateRail appears once, at the end, as a third option with its own trade-offs.

Four words first. A revenue band is the range of monthly affiliate revenue a plan covers before the next plan applies. A metered plan charges by usage, such as clicks and conversions. An overage is the extra charge for usage above a plan's cap. A payout fee is a cut the tool takes from the money on its way to the affiliate. And a cookie window is how long after a click a sale still counts for the affiliate.

The option is available for Tapfiliate customers starting Scale plan after the 1st subscription payment (not available during the trial period).

What does each one cost as you grow?

In shortThey grow on different meters. Rewardful moves you up a plan when your affiliates bring in more revenue. Tapfiliate charges by clicks and conversions, with an overage above each plan's cap. So the same program can be cheap on one and dear on the other. It depends on whether it has many clicks or much revenue.

Rewardful's bands are printed. Starter $49 to $7,500 a month from affiliates. Growth $99 to $15,000. Enterprise from $149 above that. Tapfiliate's Launch is $89 a month, or $74 billed yearly. Its caps are 1 program, 50 affiliates, 5,000 clicks a month and 500 conversions. Over the cap it charges $1.5 per 1,000 clicks and $15 per 1,000 conversions. Scale is $179, or $149 yearly. It has unlimited affiliates, 100,000 clicks and 10,000 conversions. Its overage is cheaper, at $1 and $10.

Let's say your program does 20,000 clicks and 800 conversions a month. On Tapfiliate's Launch that is 15,000 clicks over, $22.50. And 300 conversions over, $4.50. So $27 on top of $89, or $116. On Rewardful the same program costs $49, $99 or from $149. That depends only on the revenue those 800 conversions brought in. Now imagine a program with 200 clicks a month that brings in $20,000. Tapfiliate's Launch covers it at $89. Rewardful is Enterprise from $149.

Both give two months free on annual billing. Rewardful's trial is 14 days. Tapfiliate's is 7 days on Launch, 14 on Scale, and 30 on Enterprise by request. Rewardful refunds a monthly plan within 30 days.

Who pays the affiliates, and what does it cost?

In shortOn Rewardful you export to PayPal or Wise. Or you switch on Managed Payouts and Rewardful pays for a flat 3%. On Tapfiliate you choose which payout methods to offer affiliates, then pay them yourself. Or you connect your own Trolley account on the Scale plan and let Trolley send the batch. Tapfiliate takes nothing. Trolley charges its own fees.

Rewardful's Managed Payouts: "Merchants fund a payout in Rewardful with a single payment. Rewardful distributes commissions to affiliates." It costs "a flat 3% processing fee on each payout". You need an ACH-capable funding method. You ask support to switch it on. Without it, Starter includes "PayPal mass payouts" and "Wise bulk payouts". Those are exports you upload to your own account.

Tapfiliate's page says "Flat Pricing. Zero Cuts". Its help centre lists the default payout methods you can offer. ACH, several bank formats, Bitcoin, cheque and more. You can define custom ones. The automated route is Trolley, a third-party payment platform. "The option is available for Tapfiliate customers starting Scale plan after the 1st subscription payment (not available during the trial period)." Settled balances go to your Trolley account. You "make sure your Trolley account has sufficient funds to cover the full payout amount, including any fees you as the merchant are covering". Its plan table also lists a "Hands-Free Payout Service" marked "Coming soon".

So the two routes differ on who holds the money. Rewardful holds it on Managed Payouts and charges 3%. Trolley is your own account. So Tapfiliate does not hold it today. The cost is Trolley's, which this page did not read. On $2,500 of monthly payouts Rewardful's fee is $75. The custody page has both in their own words.

Which billing systems does each read?

In shortRewardful reads Stripe and Paddle Classic. Tapfiliate reads Stripe and lists thirty-plus integrations, including Shopify, WooCommerce, BigCommerce and Magento. If you sell through a shop as well as a subscription, Tapfiliate covers both. Paddle Billing is not on Rewardful's pages, and Tapfiliate's Paddle page could not be read as text.

Rewardful's FAQ: "I don't use Stripe or Paddle. Can I still use Rewardful? Not at this time. We currently support only Stripe or Paddle." Its Paddle article limits that to Paddle Classic. Tapfiliate's pricing page lists "30+ pre-built integrations (Shopify, WooCommerce, BigCommerce, Magento, Stripe etc.)" in its plan table. It adds a JS pixel, a REST API and a postback route. A postback is a server-to-server call that reports a sale without a browser.

The Stripe integrations differ in how much you build. Rewardful's pricing page: "Copy and paste 2 scripts or use our pre-built & native integrations for a one click integration." Tapfiliate's Stripe article needs "A Stripe account with API key access". It needs JavaScript calls carrying the Stripe customer id and charge id. It says "You will require a developer to correctly pull the Stripe customer id". Then a Connect Stripe button handles recurring conversions.

What about the API?

In shortBoth publish one. Rewardful's uses HTTP Basic with your API secret, allows 45 requests per 30 seconds, and is on its Starter plan. Tapfiliate's uses an X-Api-Key header, publishes rate-limit headers with no number, and its plan table lists a REST API and a postback route. The API comparison sets both beside nine others.

How does tracking work on each?

In shortBoth use a script and a cookie. Rewardful's is first-party by its own help centre. Rewardful's link is a clean parameter, ?via=justin. Its cookie is 60 days by default, per campaign. Tapfiliate offers three link methods. A query string by default. A hash for sites that cannot read query strings. A custom method for your own tracking. Its cookie time is customisable. The default is not printed on the pages read.

Rewardful: "Link to any page on your domain with a simple, clean URL parameter (?via=justin). No ugly redirects or 3rd party subdomains." And: "By default Rewardful has a standard 60-day cookie retention policy (cookie window), but this value can be configured for each campaign." Its Starter plan lists first or last touch attribution, coupon code tracking and self-referral detection.

Tapfiliate's help centre: "Query String (Default)... https://your-site.com/?ref=nlmjdis29"; "Hash... https://your-site.com/#a=123-abc&tap_s=345-def"; and "Custom... if you are handling tracking on your own end, often in combination with our API". It also states a general limit. "Most affiliate platforms rely on first-party cookies, which only work on the domain where they are set." Its plan table adds coupons, deeplinks and an MCP integration. That last one lets you ask your data questions in plain language.

Two things on Tapfiliate's table are not on Rewardful's. Multi-level marketing on Scale, where affiliates recruit sub-affiliates and earn on them. And "Affiliates account management in multiple languages". Two things Rewardful describes that Tapfiliate's table does not describe. The Affiliate Finder, a search engine that "tries to surface proven affiliates around the web"; Tapfiliate's table lists "Affiliate recruitment" without saying how. And the two-way Stripe sync that shows Rewardful data inside Stripe.

Which one should you pick?

In shortRewardful if you are a SaaS on Stripe with one revenue stream, and would rather be priced by revenue than by clicks. Tapfiliate if you sell through a shop as well, run influencer or reseller partners, want multi-level commissions, or send many clicks for modest revenue.

Price the meter before the plan. A content-led program with high traffic pays overage on Tapfiliate's Launch. It sits on Rewardful's Starter. A small program of a few partners bringing in large customers stays on Tapfiliate's Launch. It climbs Rewardful's bands. Neither page says which you are. Your last three months of clicks and revenue do.

A third option, with its own trade-offs. AffiliateRail is $29 a month founding to $10,000 a month from affiliates, then $59 to $20,000. It is banded by revenue like Rewardful, with no overage. It pays affiliates from your own PayPal or Wise on a schedule, at 0% of the payout, from the $59 plan. It reads Stripe and Paddle Billing only. So a shop, a multi-channel program, or a multi-level structure should stop at Tapfiliate. It has no affiliate finder. Its script reads the via and tap_s parameters. So links published on either tool keep converting after a move. The AffiliateRail vs Rewardful and AffiliateRail vs Tapfiliate pages set it beside each. The switch from Rewardful and switch from Tapfiliate guides cover the export.
