Comparison

AffiliateRail vs Ambassly

Both charge a flat monthly fee and neither takes a percentage of payouts. Ambassly is $39, $79 or $149 a month, banded by programs and active affiliates, never by revenue. You pay affiliates from a CSV or PayPal mass-pay export you upload yourself. AffiliateRail starts at $29 a month founding, reads Paddle as well as Stripe, and from $59 sends the payout from your own PayPal or Wise account.

The difference

What is the difference between AffiliateRail and Ambassly?

Ambassly and AffiliateRail agree on the principle: the money stays in your own account and nobody takes a cut. They part on who does the payout work and on what bands the bill. Ambassly exports a file each payout run, on every plan, and caps plans by programs and active affiliates. AffiliateRail runs the payout for you from the $59 plan and bands by monthly affiliate revenue. Ambassly is Stripe only. AffiliateRail reads Stripe and Paddle.

Cost

What does each one cost?

Published plan prices on both sides, from the same verified figures that drive the calculator. Our founding price is held for the life of the subscription. The list price is what a plan costs once the founding places are gone.

01 Custody

Who holds the money when affiliates get paid?

Nobody holds it but you. Ambassly's terms say it does not itself pay your affiliates. You export a CSV or a PayPal mass-pay file, upload it to your own PayPal account, and the money goes from you to the affiliate. Their pricing page prints no fee for that.

AffiliateRail is built on the same principle. The difference is who does the work. On Ambassly you run the upload each payout. On AffiliateRail the run is scheduled from the $59 plan and you approve it.

02 On AffiliateRail

Where does the money go on AffiliateRail?

AffiliateRail never holds it. You connect your own PayPal or Wise account. We work out who is owed what and tell your account to pay. The money goes from you to your affiliate and never passes through us.

So we take 0% of every payout, on every plan. There is no cut to take when the money never arrives. The custody page has every platform's own position, with sources.

03 The product

What does the product look like?

One dashboard for the program: affiliates, referrals, commissions and payouts. Your affiliates get a portal on your own domain, in thirteen languages, from the $29 plan.

Tracking rides the Stripe or Paddle reference field, not a cookie an ad blocker can drop. Payouts run from your own PayPal or Wise account on a schedule. The founder answers support.

In their words

What Ambassly's own terms say

We compute and display commissions; the decision to approve, reject, or pay any commission is yours. Ambassly does not itself pay your affiliates.

Credit where due

Where Ambassly is the better choice

No product wins on every axis, and a comparison page that pretends otherwise is not worth reading. Ambassly is a good fit for a Stripe developer tool that wants a plain ledger, and there are honest reasons to pick it.

  • Plan simplicity. Three flat prices, banded by programs and active affiliates, and revenue never moves the plan. AffiliateRail bands by revenue.

  • An MCP server with scoped keys for both sides, so an agent can read stats, approve commissions and invite affiliates, and an affiliate's agent can make links. Ours sits on the $99 plan and covers the merchant side.

  • Per-content links, so a creator can track a video, a newsletter and a README separately.

  • Published attribution rules and an append-only audit trail, including a plain note that Safari can cut the cookie to about a week.

Switching

How do you move a program from Ambassly?

There is no Ambassly importer yet. Export your affiliates and their ledger, and load the CSV into AffiliateRail's importer, which dry-runs first. The tracking script reads the via and ref parameters Ambassly uses from day one, so published links keep converting while both run. Both platforms leave the money in your own account, so payouts change less than the plan does. The switch guide has the order.

Questions

Common questions

Is AffiliateRail cheaper than Ambassly?

At the entry, yes: $29 a month founding against $39. Above $10,000 a month of affiliate revenue AffiliateRail moves to $59 and Ambassly stays at $39 for a program under 50 active affiliates, then $79 to 500. Neither takes a cut of payouts. The true-cost calculator puts the two side by side at your own revenue.

Does Ambassly hold my money?

No. Their terms say Ambassly does not itself pay your affiliates. You export a CSV or a PayPal mass-pay file and upload it to your own PayPal, so the money goes from you to your affiliate. AffiliateRail works on the same principle and adds the schedule: from the $59 plan it tells your own PayPal or Wise account to pay, and you approve the run.

Will my affiliates' Ambassly links keep working if I move?

Yes. Ambassly links carry via or ref, and our tracking script reads both, along with aff. A link published a year ago credits the same affiliate from the day the script goes on your site. Ambassly's per-content token, via_link, is not read, so the split by placement starts again. The switch guide covers running both in parallel.

Which one should a Stripe SaaS choose?

Running one program with a handful of creators, wanting per-content links, and happy to upload a payout file each month? Ambassly is built for that. Selling through Paddle, paying more than a few affiliates, or wanting the payout to run itself from your own account? AffiliateRail is built for that, from $29 a month founding.
