Moving from Tolt to AffiliateRail

The short version
A built-in importer connects to your Tolt account and brings over your partners, customers, sales and commission history. Your affiliates' existing links keep converting through the switch, because our tracker reads Tolt's referral parameter as well as our own. Plan an afternoon end to end, and if you would rather not do any of it yourself, we will run the whole migration with you.
Your existing affiliate links keep working
This is the part that usually stops people from switching, so it comes first. Your affiliates have links published all over the internet, in old YouTube descriptions and blog posts they will never edit. If those links stop attributing, your partners lose commissions and your program loses trust in the same week.
They do not stop. The AffiliateRail tracker reads the referral parameter Tolt links carry (tolt), along with the generic parameters (ref, aff, via) that most link setups use. A click on an old link lands on your site, our script picks up the parameter, and the referral is attributed to the same affiliate in AffiliateRail. No affiliate has to update a single link for tracking to continue.
This is not a marketing paraphrase: the parameter list ships in the tracker itself, and you can read it in the script your own site would serve.
What comes over, and how
Tolt has a documented API, and the AffiliateRail importer uses it directly. You paste a Tolt API key and your program id, and the importer pulls:
- Partners, with their payout details and their links, so every affiliate exists on day one with the same identity.
- Customers, with their partner attribution, so future renewals keep crediting the affiliate who earned them.
- Sales and commissions, joined together, so balances and history do not restart at zero.
The importer paces itself well inside Tolt's published rate limits, reports what it imported, and can be re-run safely: records are matched, not duplicated. A typical program imports in minutes; a very large one takes as long as its record count demands.
The switch, step by step
- Create your AffiliateRail program and connect Stripe. The connection is read-only: we read subscription events to attribute sales, and we cannot write to your Stripe account.
- Run the Tolt import with your API key. Check the counts against what your Tolt dashboard shows.
- Add the tracking script to your site. Old links attribute from this moment, whichever parameter they carry.
- Invite your partners to the new portal. Their email, their links and their balance are already there when they arrive.
- Remove the Tolt script and close the account once you have watched a few referrals land. There is no required overlap period, but running both trackers for a day or two costs nothing and lets you compare.

What does not carry over
Said plainly, because a migration page that lists only the good news is an advert:
- Portal passwords. Your affiliates sign in to a new portal, so they set a new password from their invite. Their identity, links and history are waiting for them; their old login is not.
- Raw click logs. We import people and money, not Tolt's historical click-by-click traffic records. Click counting starts fresh on our side.
- Cookies already set on visitors' devices. A visitor referred last week carries Tolt's attribution, not ours. The moment they click any affiliate link again, we attribute them. There is no way for any vendor to transfer another vendor's cookies, and anyone claiming otherwise is describing something else.
- Tolt-hosted assets. Files you uploaded to Tolt's resource storage need re-uploading to your AffiliateRail resources page.
What the same program costs on each
Both products band pricing by monthly affiliate-earned revenue, on the same bands, which makes the comparison unusually clean. Checked against Tolt's pricing page on 1 September 2026:

Two differences sit outside the table. Auto payouts: Tolt includes them from its $99 Growth plan, with a 2% processing fee on the payout total plus $8 per invoice by bank transfer or 4% by card (their help centre, checked 1 September 2026). AffiliateRail includes auto payouts from its $59 Grow plan at 0% of the payout, because payouts run through your own PayPal or Wise account and never pass through us.
