Moving from Komissio to AffiliateRail

This guide has one clever step. Komissio links are a path on your own subdomain, like go.yourapp.com/r/name, which our script does not read. But the subdomain is yours. One redirect rule sends those links to your site with a tag our script does read, and every old link keeps paying. The people and the history move by CSV, and the importer does a practice run first. The money takes a different route: from Stripe Connect out of your Stripe account, to your own PayPal or Wise. Neither takes a cut. Plan an afternoon. Or hand it to us.

Moving from Komissio in four stagesThe four stages of moving a program from Komissio: links keep working, export and import, run both for a month, then switch payouts.1Links keepworking2Export andimport3Run bothfor a month4Switch payoutsAAn afternoon of your time, or an hour of oursNothing your affiliates published has to change.

01 Stage 1

Your existing affiliate links keep working, with one redirect rule

Here is the one clever step. Komissio's links are a path on a subdomain you own, shown on their site as go.brightwell.com/r/marta (their home page, checked 6 September 2026). Our script reads tags on the URL, and a path is not a tag. But because the subdomain is yours, you can add a redirect rule at your DNS host or web server: send go.yourapp.com/r/marta to yourapp.com/?rail=marta. Our script reads rail, and the code after it is the partner's referral token. Every old link then pays the same person.

Do it on the day the script goes on. Then nobody edits a link. If you would rather drop the subdomain, each affiliate gets a new link from the portal instead, and stage 3 covers the overlap.

Said plainly

  • A Komissio link is a path on your own subdomain, like go.yourapp.com/r/marta. Our script reads tags on the URL, not paths.

  • The subdomain is yours. A redirect rule that sends /r/marta to yourapp.com/?rail=marta turns every old link into one our script reads.

  • Set the rule on the day you install the script. Then no affiliate edits a link.

  • If you drop the subdomain instead, each affiliate gets a new link from the portal, and stage 3 is the month that makes the swap painless.

02 Stage 2

What comes over, and how

There is no Komissio importer yet, so the move runs on CSV. Komissio's Growth plan exports payout batches as CSV or XML, and its Enterprise plan exports audit logs (their pricing page, checked 6 September 2026). Neither page describes an export of affiliates or referred customers, so ask their support for those. The importer takes three files:

  • Partners: email required. Put each partner's Komissio code, the bit after /r/, in the referral token column. That is what the redirect rule maps to.
  • Customers: one per referred customer, with their partner.
  • Transactions: one per payment, with the amount and date.
A practice run first, every time. Run it again and records are matched, not duplicated. One click rolls it back.

03 Stage 3

Run both for a month

Run both for a month. Compare sales, not clicks. The two scripts will never agree on clicks, and that gap is not a fault.

Komissio pays on the schedule you set, so let the last scheduled batch go out before you switch the redirect rule on. After that, sales credit on the new side. Close the old account once one full payout run has finished there.

Run both for a monthA four-week timeline. The old tracker stays on for three weeks while rail.js reads both sets of links; once the two dashboards agree, the old one is switched off.week 1week 2week 3week 4their tracker, still onoffrail.js, reading both sets of linksACompare the two dashboards. When they agree, switch the old one off.

04 Stage 4

How do payouts change after the switch?

This part changes the payout method, not who holds the money.

On Komissio you approved a batch and Stripe sent the money from your Stripe account to each affiliate's Stripe account, with a receipt. No fee from Komissio, because it never held the money. Stripe's own Connect fees applied.

On AffiliateRail you connect your own PayPal or Wise. AffiliateRail logs in on your schedule and pays from there. Same custody, same 0%. Your affiliates enter a PayPal or Wise account instead of a Stripe one. For some of them, that will be the first payout method they could use.

Paid through Stripe Connect before? Now your own PayPal or Wise sends it, and the fee is still 0%. The custody page has both models side by side.

The same custody model as ours, with a different payout method. The money goes from your Stripe account to theirs, so there is no fee for Komissio to print.

Step by step

The switch, step by step

Three words first, because the steps use them. A dry run is a practice import that writes nothing. It tells you what it would have created. A referral token is the bit inside an affiliate link that names the partner. Keeping each partner's old one is why published links carry on working. Attribution is the job of deciding which partner gets credited for a sale. Most merchants do this in an afternoon. If you would rather hand it over, we run migrations white-glove. A screen-share and an hour, and we do the rest. We finish inside two working days of getting your details. Email support@affiliaterail.com.

  1. Create your program

Connect Stripe or Paddle. The link is read-only. We read billing events to credit sales. We cannot write to your account.

  2. Ask Komissio for your data

Affiliates, referred customers and commissions, as a spreadsheet. Keep each partner's /r/ code. It is what the redirect rule maps to.

  3. Practice-run the import

Map the columns. Read the counts. Check them against your Komissio dashboard. Only run it for real when they match.

  4. Install the script and add the redirect rule

Send go.yourapp.com/r/name to yourapp.com/?rail=name. From then on every old Komissio link pays its partner. Nobody edits a link.

  5. Invite partners, then overlap

Send the email. Run both for a month. Watch one payout run finish on the new side before you close Komissio.

14 days free, no card. A month of both running is stage 3.

Said plainly

What does not carry over

A migration page that lists only the good news is an advert. These do not come across.

  • Portal passwords

Your affiliates set a new one from their invite. Their identity, links and balance are waiting. Their old login is not.

  • The links, if you drop the subdomain

Keep go.yourapp.com and one redirect rule saves every link. Drop it and each affiliate gets a new link from the portal.

  • Stripe Connect payouts

Affiliates were paid to a Stripe account with a receipt. Now they are paid to PayPal or Wise. They enter that account in the new portal.

  • Shopify

AffiliateRail reads Stripe and Paddle. A program that credits Shopify sales through Komissio cannot connect its billing here.

  • Raw click logs

People and money move. Click-by-click traffic does not. Click counting starts fresh.

  • Tax forms

Collect fresh W-9 and W-8BEN forms in the new portal. It is a new record, even though the payer is still you.

Cost

What the same program costs on each

Komissio is a flat fee banded by active affiliates, so its column does not move with revenue. Ours does. This table assumes fifty or fewer active affiliates, which keeps Komissio on Starter. Past fifty, Komissio is $99. Neither tool takes a cut of payouts. Checked against Komissio's pricing page on 6 September 2026.

Monthly revenue from affiliatesKomissio, fifty affiliates or fewerAffiliateRail foundingAffiliateRail list
$5,000$49 (Starter)$29 (Launch)$59
$10,000$49 (Starter)$29 (Launch)$59
$20,000$49 (Starter)$59 (Grow)$89
$40,000$49 (Starter)$99 (Scale)$179

Read that table honestly. With fifty affiliates or fewer, Komissio is cheaper than our list price at every volume, and cheaper than our founding price from $20,000 a month. Neither tool takes a cut of payouts. The reason to move is not this table. It is affiliates who cannot open a Stripe account, unlimited affiliates on every plan, a portal on your own domain in thirteen languages, and Paddle.

Questions

Common questions

Will my affiliates' Komissio links keep working?

Yes, with one redirect rule. A Komissio link is a path on your own subdomain, like go.yourapp.com/r/name. Send that path to yourapp.com/?rail=name and our script reads it. Because the subdomain is yours, the rule is yours to add. Without it, each affiliate gets a new link.

What changes about payouts?

The payout method. On Komissio, Stripe sent the money from your Stripe account to each affiliate's Stripe account. On AffiliateRail, your own PayPal or Wise sends it. Neither tool holds the money or takes a cut. Affiliates who could not open a Stripe account can now be paid.

Should I move at all?

If you have fifty affiliates or fewer, all in Stripe countries, and no wish for Paddle, Komissio's $49 is a fair price and this page says so. Move when an affiliate cannot get paid through Stripe, or the count is about to cross fifty, or you bill through Paddle.

Do affiliates have to do anything?

Two things. Set a password from their invite. Enter a PayPal or Wise account in the new portal, in place of the Stripe one. Their links, customers and balance are already there. One email covers it.
