AffiliateRail vs Trackdesk

These two serve different buyers, and this page says so. Trackdesk is a tracking platform for affiliate programs, affiliate networks and iGaming. It starts at $399 a month, or $299 a month billed yearly on a promotion that runs to 30 September 2026. AffiliateRail is affiliate software for SaaS founders from $29 a month founding. Both leave the payout to your own account. Trackdesk publishes no platform fee on it.

The difference

What is the difference between AffiliateRail and Trackdesk?

Trackdesk is built for scale. Every plan has unlimited affiliates, clicks and conversions. It supports multi-level structures. Its segment list runs from SaaS to networks and iGaming. Its entry price is $399 a month. AffiliateRail is built for a SaaS founder with one program on Stripe or Paddle, from $29 a month founding, banded by revenue. If your program is a network or an iGaming operation, Trackdesk is the like-for-like and this page is not.

Cost

What does each one cost?

Published plan prices on both sides, from the same verified figures that drive the calculator. Our founding price is held for the life of the subscription. The list price is what a plan costs once the founding places are gone.

01 Custody

Who holds the money when affiliates get paid?

You do. Trackdesk's help centre describes two routes. Settle balances and export a CSV for PayPal Mass Pay from your own PayPal Business account. Or connect your own Tipalti account, on the Business plan and above. On the Tipalti route a payment waits as Pending Payer Funds until your Tipalti account has the money. Trackdesk holds none of it.

No platform fee is published on either route, so this page prints no number. AffiliateRail's payouts run the same way, from your own account, at 0%.

02 On AffiliateRail

Where does the money go on AffiliateRail?

AffiliateRail never holds it. You connect your own PayPal or Wise account. We work out who is owed what and tell your account to pay. The money goes from you to your affiliate and never passes through us.

So we take 0% of every payout, on every plan. There is no cut to take when the money never arrives. The custody page has every platform's own position, with sources.

03 The product

What does the product look like?

One dashboard for the program: affiliates, referrals, commissions and payouts. Your affiliates get a portal on your own domain, in thirteen languages, from the $29 plan.

Tracking rides the Stripe or Paddle reference field, not a cookie an ad blocker can drop. Payouts run from your own PayPal or Wise account on a schedule. The founder answers support.

Credit where due

Where Trackdesk is the better choice

No product wins on every axis, and a comparison page that pretends otherwise is not worth reading. Trackdesk serves a different segment from AffiliateRail, and for that segment it is the stronger product.

  • Built for networks and iGaming as well as programs: multi-level structures, offers with per-visitor landing pages, redirect domains, and click-level tracking with fraud controls.

  • Unlimited affiliates, clicks and conversions on every plan, with a note that volumes above 20 million clicks a month may need a private server.

  • Automated payouts through your own Tipalti account on the Business plan and above, for merchants who already run Tipalti.

  • An affiliate marketplace listing on every plan, one offer on Business, plus a public API and an MCP server.

Switching

How do you move a program from Trackdesk?

There is no Trackdesk importer yet. Export your affiliates to CSV from the Affiliate list, and your conversions from Reports, then load them into AffiliateRail's importer, which dry-runs first. Trackdesk's tracking links redirect through their domain and land with a click id, so they cannot be read as an affiliate's link: they need re-issuing from the new portal. The switch guide covers the order and what does not carry.

Questions

Common questions

Is AffiliateRail cheaper than Trackdesk?

On published prices, yes at every volume. AffiliateRail is $29, $59 and $99 a month founding. Trackdesk is $399 a month, or $299 billed yearly on a promotion to 30 September 2026. The fairer question is whether you are the buyer Trackdesk is built for. A network or an iGaming operator is, and no AffiliateRail plan serves that. A SaaS founder with one program usually is not.

Does Trackdesk hold my money?

No. Their help centre describes a CSV you upload to your own PayPal Business account, or your own Tipalti account that you fund. Trackdesk publishes no platform fee on either. AffiliateRail works the same way, from your own PayPal or Wise account, and adds the schedule.

Will my affiliates' Trackdesk links keep working if I move?

No, and this page will not pretend otherwise. Trackdesk links redirect through their tracking domain and reach your site carrying a click id. A click id identifies a click in Trackdesk's system, not an affiliate, so no tracker on your site can credit from it. Each affiliate gets a new link from the AffiliateRail portal, and the switch guide has the message to send.

Which one should a founder choose?

Running a network, an iGaming program, or anything with sub-affiliate tiers and per-visitor landing pages? Trackdesk. Running one SaaS affiliate program on Stripe or Paddle and paying a few dozen affiliates? AffiliateRail, from $29 a month founding, with the payout sent from your own account.
